    - Pulse rate of ABS sensor at right front wheel [pps]
    - Pulse rate of ABS sensor at left rear wheel [pps]
    - Pulse rate of ABS sensor at right rear wheel [pps]

    - Selected Gear Position [R, N, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6] (manual and auto mode)

    - Gearbox Temperature [ºC, ºF]

  • Mar-03-2007

The price for an X-Gauge kit sold directly by Welte Engineering has been raised from the introductory price of €199 to €229 due to the fact that the X-Gauge will now start selling through local distributors.

The X-Gauge is now finally available for the smart® fortwo cdi with the diesel engine. Note, however, that a cdi will have to be of model year 2004 or higher in order to be compatible with the X-Gauge. Unfortunately, the ECUs in earlier cdi models do not deliver any generic engine parameters through their OBD-interface.

The cdi specific X-Gauge will display the following parameters:

    - Time
    - Date
    - Battery Voltage [V]
    - Inside Temperature [ºC, ºF]

    - Number of Trouble Codes
    - Calculated Load Value [%]
    - Engine Coolant Temperature [ºC, ºF]
    - Intake Pressure [bar, psi]
    - Engine RPM [rpm]
    - Vehicle Speed [km/h, mph]
    - Intake Air Temperature [ºC, ºF]

    - Current Mileage [l/100km, mpg]
    - Average Mileage [l/100km, mpg]
    - Maximum Vehicle Speed [km/h, mph]
    - Acceleration [s]
    - Maximum Acceleration [s]
    - Turbo Cool-Down Time [s]

It will also display and clear Confirmed and Pending diagnostic trouble codes (DTC).

The cdi version of the X-Gauge firmware will even show you a cdi logo next to the picture of a smart fortwo during the startup animation.

Watch the startup animation as it is played in the fortwo cdi (by Kane Harrison).

  • Feb-03-2007

Software version 1.70, to be delivered immediately, is now capable of displaying Confirmed as well as Pending diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

Confirmed codes indicate serious problems that the ECU has detected over 2 driving cycles (driving cycle: start engine - drive - stop engine). Confirmed codes will also turn on the check-engine light in the lower right corner of your instrument panel. Pending codes indicate problems that the ECU has detected during the current or last driving cycle and are not considered serious yet, so pending codes will not turn on the check-engine light. A pending code will turn into a confirmed one if it has been detected over more than 1 driving cycle. The X-Gauge continuously displays confirmed and pending codes alternatively.

Read about this new feature in the latest version of the user manual (page 20).
